3 Rocks from the Son

Rocks are formidable. Even small ones fell giants.

Many times rocks are described with god-like qualities. Immovable, unchallengeable and unchangeable. Firm, strong, steadfast and resilient. They cannot be acted upon or acted against. Rocks withstand assaults as much as they promise protection to the assaulted. The rock's strength becomes a secure refuge for any assailed who would stoop behind it, or stand upon it.

The wise flee to the Rock, the humble stand upon it and the righteous who are threatened move behind it.

The fool claims in his heart that 'I am my rock', but pride comes before a fall.

It is from the pride of a human's heart he claims 'I am king and invincible'. Yet, the humility of a weak or broken spirit will counter 'I am barren and vulnerable, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I'.

1) Daily from the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint or strong, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:3 with a light SoulSupply edit)

2) Listen to Me you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord; look to the Rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn (Isaiah 51:1)

3) The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Psalm 18:2)
