5 Worthy Desires

'The heart of Christ desires peace' (anon), so too men.

Desires of the soul trump the desires of the flesh. They are the deeper and authentic yearnings,  undulled by the flesh. The flesh can never offer satisfaction to them. They express the core longings  implanted within man, the real man, the pure man, the man unhindered from his eternal design.

Are not the aspirations of a man's soul a deep imprint of divine DNA? After all he is created in the image of God, that very same image that too sought rest.

And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. (Genesis 2:2-3 NKJV)

Does your soul ache for these?

  1. To live without conflict or hostility, in freedom from enemies and to dwell among men of peace.
  2. That the heart is sheltered as much as the head.
  3. To live with love around and within.
  4. To live with a refreshed spirit.
  5. And, to be a refreshing spirit.

All these desires find lodging under the canopy of 'rest'.

When striving no longer stirs the soul nor drives the body, then the soul can recline by quiet waters and be still - hope is alive and rest is possible.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (Psalm 23:1-3 NKJV)
