A Ballooning Parable

Hot air balloons, many of them, floated high amongst the clouds. They were all brightly colored, against a sky of perfect pale blue. Each balloon glided through the heavens upon the whispers of a breeze.

Curiously atop each balloon was affixed a colored pennant. It was rigid and did not slap the refreshing air. Gripping these stiff pennants were humans who stood, too motionless, and apparently unconcerned. These men and women floated above the earth with only the smallest of effort. They gazed out and down at soul-stirring views, and enjoyed the cool of the thinning air.

Not all the balloons carried people atop them, but all balloons did carry the pennants.

There are not many men who seek to rise above mankind on earth, and join with the views that Heaven holds.

There are but a few men who would choose to see as Heaven does, and tolerate the attendant risks to do so.

From these vantage places aloft they see men scurrying about earth as random as toddlers in a playground, directionless but giggling anyway. These balloon riders witness each person so consumed in their own activities that they do not even see those beside them, let alone how they have bruised or broken those around them. These humans, so engaged in their busyness, do not understand what they do and are too consumed with self to consider looking skywards and remember God.

Yet, it is those who stop on earth and then gaze up to their Lord who will see as eagles see, and understand as God understands life on earth.

Man's view of his activity upon earth cannot be correct until he sits near God, and sees God's view of His earth. It is then he too grasps the inclinations of a human's heart, to righteousness or wickedness. Only then can mankind cease calling good evil, and evil good.

Judgements from ground level, are just that, low level judgements.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5)
