A Healing God? ~ Part A#

Has the healing of mortal bodies become inconvenient to God? Does He still repair the injured and heal the sick, for copious evidence would suggest that God does not?

Many far more educated and erudite minds than I inform me God no longer heals supernaturally.

This would suggest that God has lost interest, His arm is now too short or He has changed His modus operandi? Yet the Bible is littered with the dead being raised, the blind seeing and the lame walking.

Various luminary evangelical scholars advise that the Apostolic season (of Acts) has ended, consequently the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit have ceased. This false doctrine is called cessationism; it began centuries ago. (More on this in tomorrow's SoulSnack)

BUT when did God cease being God, remove His crown or tear His heart from His chest?

When did God replace His throne with a kitchen chair to simply sit sipping breakfast tea and crunching warm toast, dismissive of His creature's sufferings?

At what point did God's heart lose interest in His children (His very own image) and jettison them to become victims of earth's health vagaries and satan's sure malevolence?

When did the Father change His commission to His Holy Spirit as counsellor and equipper of the supernatural power tools for life and ministry?

When did God begin withholding His gifts and restraining His love?

God does NOT change.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)

Could the strongest impediment to the witness and reception of God's supernatural healings be simply our academically proud unwillingness to believe well of God, His intentions and the continuing strength of His forearm? Jesus faced the same problem.

He (Jesus) could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. (Mark 6:5-6)

Prejudice still blinds men to the truth and love of God as much as ever to-day, as it opposes Christ's healing ministry for the sake of doctrinal pride. (A.B. Simpson, 1909 - with a SoulSupply edit)
