Drowning Under Open Skies?
Can you imagine building a boat in a desert for a century, while preaching righteousness to a wicked world? Noah can!
God found Noah righteous in his generation. The rain fell but the floods could not injure him or his family.
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation". (Genesis 7:1)
After the flood Noah planted a vineyard. It flourished and he enjoyed the fruits of his labor.
When the flood finishes a fresh new world is always birthed. Floods bear life, that is the nature of floods.
Floods never last, that is too the nature of floods.
The purpose of floods is not simply destruction but reconstruction; not barrenness but abundance.
Floods are God's mechanism for cleansing - the securing of a better world, an improved life.
When swamped under a deluge, or drowning under open skies remember:
floods are not the end.
Life after the flood sure beats the heck out of life before the flood. Don't lament for what was that you can settle for what now will be.
Noah was 600 years old when the heavens opened. After the waters subsided he enjoyed the fruit of a new world for another 350 years.
Life's floods are to be sailed through - just as its mountains must be climbed or its giants felled.
Floods don't drown the righteous, instead they deliver them to an abundant new world.
As a righteous Noah enjoyed new wine after the flood - so too today's righteous. When their floods have passed betterment arrives.
