How to Create Perpetual Wealth

Soul Snack 134/14 ... The Christian world is awash with prosperity teaching. God wants me to be rich. I get rich by giving to God.

Amidst all excesses there is always a good kernel, a modicum of truth. For this is where the excess first began.

IMAGINE ~ You are not wealthy (this may be easy). You have labored long. You deserve your wages. Your mortgage is still being paid, or your landlord still demands rent. Bills still mount, the church still passes the plate and you already tithe. A ragged unloved human now stands before you. Could this brief scenario be you?

Your sober eyes scan the meagre content of a tattered wallet. You know no wealth, but you do desire to be kind. The need is clear, the cash is present and your heart finds no fault before you; it is always soft.

You have already learned that your wallet always has a habit of finding blessing too, as much as giving it. The ragamuffin then beams with thanks.

You have long decided upon that Biblical principle - 'the children of a generous man will never be found begging'.

Give generously to him (the needy brother) and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. (Deuteronomy 15:10)

God gives a return to those who willingly give to Him.

Surprisingly, when I give I also create deposits for myself. Giving is an investment deposited in an eternal bank. This bank is managed by an equally eternal and benevolent bank manager.

God pays interest that is out of this world. He dispenses dividends with a carefree abandon. God charges no banking fees and withholds no taxes.

He witnesses my heart to give; it is a guarantee of how He will give to me. We all reap what we sow.

His interest is not in my accumulation of assets, but rather my asset management.

His interest is not in what is in my hand, but rather what is my heart.

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. (Psalm 73:25-26)

Giving today is sowing for tomorrow; it is creating wealth in perpetuity.
