Impossible Tempests?

Has foul weather found unfair harbor around your relationships?

Blowing into all lives perfect storms for relational hardships arrive. Uncontrollable factors coincide too regularly that lives are destroyed, for these are the days of evil.

The intersection of storms can too frequently arise from within.

There may have been that:

  • difficult childhood, often where affirmation was absent and condemnation remained present, which lead to
  • the gaining of an attitude where submission was replaced with rebellion, so then
  • this thinking colors (darkens) relational judgements. Unhelpful relationships are entered or good ones are polluted, as each relationship is viewed through the fractured grid of personal history.

Consequently relational storms, typhoons and cyclones gather air within the soul and around the body. One relationship sours only to multiply the pain from a previous one. Finally the relationships collapse forever, while the man within is destroyed; friends become devastated and the pattern is cursed to be ever repeated.

William Wordsworth both insightfully and poetically summed this cycle up:

The child is father of the man.

Clear and wise judgements are hindered by the child within.

The only course capable of quelling storms is to seek He who has shown already that He can do it.

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? ’They were terrified and asked each other, ‘Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!’ (Mark 4:39-41)

As each new life-storm brews upon the horizon, as darks clouds gather and hurtful piercings reappear, ask Him to remove them before they drop further toxic rain and pain upon the body and soul. Pursue peace, refuse to fight!

Jesus still silences impossible tempests whether soaking the outer man or drenching the inner man, for the winds and the waves of life still obey Him.

‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

THE IMPOSSIBLE IS STILL AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO RELY ON THE ETERNAL!
