In Our Weakness

The apostle Paul knew what it was to be weak - to be persistently weak, to be humbly weak and thus dependently weak.

Paul wrote of weakness and claimed it as his only honor. Paul boasted only of his weakness. (See 2 Corinthians 11-13)

He confessed:

  • If I must boast, I will boast only of the things that show my weakness. (11:30)
  • For to be sure, Jesus was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God's power. Likewise we are weak in Him, yet by God's power we live with Him to serve you (13:4)

And so it is with each believer who echoes Paul:

weakness is no impediment to service, but rather the seat of willing and vital dependence.

Weakness is the sapling to a stronger trunk of faith. Standing alongside Paul a disciple repeats:

the life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

TAKE NOTE PLEASE: ... They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. (Psalm 126:5)

there exists to this day the brightest future for those weak in the body but strong in the Lord.
