Cries of an exile

Soul Snack 110/12 ... Cries of an exile

The wilderness walk is not always a warm place. In exile the pilgrim's heart wails with even more intensity than the ache of their feet...

The gloss dulls

The veneer fades

The glass is opaque

Clarity is gone

Patience is fractured beyond endurance

With sighs too deep for words, intervention is pleaded

The tear ducts run dry

Fear, shame, rejection are travelling companions

Days descend to darkness

There is no light under this sun

Darkness honors no beams and plays no favorites,

Darkness refuses to flee, refuses to release, refuses rejection and just remains,

Surpassing exhaustion and past numbing there is no comfort, care or rest

Respite is robbed and light escapes again -

Oh bear these sorrows today Jesus that tomorrow may be seen well.

My eyes will watch over them for their good and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down;  I will plant them and not uproot them (Jer 24:6)
