The Shadow of Sinai - A

Soul Snack 105/12 ... The Shadow of Sinai - A

Searing heat seasonally interrupted by bitter cold was the the four decade sojourn of this eighty year old murderer who had found refuge in the desert. The wilderness he travelled however still proved less dangerous than remaining in Egypt. This desert dweller was a man accustomed to his own company and refreshingly motivated by good intentions. Yet these fine intentions had failed to rescue him from poor behaviour. Forty years of traipsing the wilderness had taken the Prince of Egypt from a palace to poverty and honor to humility.

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. (Numbers 12:3)

It was in the wilderness, on Mt Sinai that Moses literally met God, heard from God and learned to know God. Upon Sinai the shepherd of men's sheep was divinely promoted to become the shepherd of God's sheep.

Many still walk the wilderness treks and live in the shadow of Sinai. As with Moses the wilderness may be entered by sin (there are other reasons too - see this brief link) but it is left by promotion, not self-promotion but divine promotion.

When the walk in the wilderness has become too long to take, when the shadow of Sinai still blocks the noon-day sun, remain striding and wait upon the Lord while He continues to renew your strength until He ignites a bush for you too and raises you up.

Today's Soul Snippet:

Forgiveness is not an excuse for sin but liberation from self-condemnation.
