Learning He Was Wrong
I saw a man who wore that shining necklace of pride. (See Psalm 73:6)
Then I saw the same man both weak and knowledgeable. He sought humility and found God. It was from deep despair that his necklace fell.
Painfully this now sober soul had learned that a humble heart is far better than a strong man.
It is only in weakness that there is little energy for pride.
Those who walk in pride God is able to humble.
Is it not better that a man loses his strength that he may too lose his pride? For it is from weakness that humility seeks to examine life.
Humility then adorns the man who has become what he despised and so learned that he was wrong.
The body prospers in the measure to which the soul is weakened, and the soul prospers in the measure to which the body is weakened. ~ Abba Daniel
Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. (Proverbs 29:23)
