Life As A Leaf
Could life be as an autumn leaf wafting on a winter breeze? The leaf knows not where it lands, its future is inconceivable to it.
I try to imagine the future, but - I can't!
Is it good, or is it full of trouble? Does favor or fortune, failure or foolishness await?
How may I seize my days aright?
At best I can only scramble in thought up unseen hillsides to the vistas or enemies above. And then I slide precariously down the other side to the delights or dangers that I will meet below.
My soul desperately wants to receive a good report for tomorrow, but fears from the past only scream at me - what awaits are only bad reports.
My hands grip tightly these three verses of truth. They secure my today so that I will reach my Divinely destined tomorrow. These truths are my certain and good report.
Of these truths I AM SURE:
- The Lord holds my shield and I am safe, therefore my shield can't fall in battle. ~ Psalm 89:18
- God's right hand holds mine fast. ~ Psalm 139:11
- It is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love Him. ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9
Whatever war wages within me, whatever strife seeks to engulf me, whatever enemy threatens - I know I am safe, and the best is yet to come.
Divine protective favor canopies all those who love Him, until we reach the unimagined things He has already prepared for us.
For a heart fitted with Jesus today the future is as good as tomorrow is inconceivable now.
