Poking the Dragon

The good Lord discriminates.

His verdict is soon for earth.

The harvesting sickle hovers.

Mankind abhors discrimination, for he holds no discerning heart.

When God sought to honor the new King Solomon He invited Solomon, through a dream, to ask for whatever he would want. Solomon's timeless request:

give your servant a discerning heart ... to distinguish between right and wrong. (1 Kings 5:9)

We have learnt to reject wrong, to suppress the truth.

Each man must live with his end in mind, for the good Lord does discriminate.

Anti-discrimination is the dragon's outstretched palm that the disciple may compromise with its evil; a soft option that seems so reasonable.

God distinguishes good from evil, wheat from weeds and sheep from goats. And, then He separates them forever. We need His discernment now that we too aren't lost forever.

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. (Matthew 13:41- 43)

Anti-discrimination is soon drowning forever in the lake of burning sulfur.

The Lord's highest value is righteousness. It is the foundation of His throne. His best intention is a pure and new world. This will only arrive through discrimination, the dividing of mankind - never from the acceptance of all.

Light knows no fellowship with darkness as righteousness shares no agreement with wickedness.

Solomon's wisdom could not be measured. (1 Kings 4:29). He exercised it in all times, through all thoughts and at all turns. That is the nature of true wisdom. It is as endless as its giver.

Wisdom hunts for and then reveals the truth. (See the tale of two prostitutes in 1 Kings 4:16-28) Is not the path to truth walked by the wise?

In the dividing of right and wrong both wisdom and courage are required. God holds these without limit.

When the brave man puts the interests of His Lord first, he sides with Jesus and discerns righteousness.

There are two kinds of Christians: those who sincerely believe in God and those who, just as sincerely, believe that they believe. You can tell them apart by their actions in decisive moments. ~ Richard Wurmbrand

Yes, as with the good Lord, the disciple must too discriminate - dividing right from wrong, good from evil and truth from lies.

As the days grow increasingly darker, as wickedness multiplies alarmingly there is no place in the shadows a disciple may claim.

But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13)
