The Shield
You are my strength and my salvation,
You are the shield to my soul.
You are my going out and my coming in,
You are my warmth when I grow cold.
You are the breath I take each second, the air I breath each day,
You are my forever companion along this life's dark way.
Your name is my canopy and your salvation is my wall,
You love is so precious for this is why you call.
In your arms I rest and live, in your shadow I long to hide,
There is neither hope nor light of life unless you are safely at my side.
In you alone my past is gone, my future is secure,
With you alone my Jesus I will not want forevermore.
