Life's Levellers

Soul Snack 8/88 ... Life's Levelers

Clenched white-knuckled fists desperately gripped the now slipping steering wheel. Today was the same as yesterday, tomorrow would be likewise.

Two lanes merged. The short left lane frequently offering advantage to those bold enough to attempt the merge. To his satisfaction he had gained 6 car lengths if only he was permitted to merge.

Frustration rose and anger beckoning, still no gap appeared. His right foot agitated, he seizes a narrow gap. Yet now he realises that his manouver has gained no advantage. In fact his bright red sedan a signal to all who had watched of his failure. He had actually lost position in the queue through his now failed overtaking attempt.

Traffic is one of life's great levelers.

The change rooms at the beach is another, or the waiting room at the hospital. Postiion, education or wealth no advantage.

There are countless levelers in life. In God's eyes the things that man sees to set man apart are meaningless. Position, power and privilege, hold no favour with God.

God holds no bias. He does not discriminate.

God's playing ground is always level, never cluttered. The God of heaven shows no favouritism on earth.
All that is correct for man to do:

"Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man." Eccl 12:13
