Strong Men Die Hard

Christ's calls are ultimate. He is no soft-serve vendor. It is not self-safety to pursue Him.

The Christ of Calvary requests no more of His followers than He first gave them.

As with the Lord, the legacy a man leaves is equivalent to the self-martyrdom he exacts.

At your cross, so shall your Pentecost be. God's way to Pentecost was via Calvary. Individually it must be so today also. The purity and fullness of the individual Pentecost must depend upon the completeness of the individual Calvary... Death to self is not at all a pleasant experience. And strong men die hard. (Frank Bartleman)

It is in self-death I soberly reckon me in all my frailties, weaknesses and indulgences.

It is me that must be stripped, lest my opinions of me trip me up and I stumble away.

My legacy is released only after I die hard to me.

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. (John 12:24-26)

For those who would die to produce many seeds there is no safe Jesus.
