The Bite of Satan ~ A

Soul Snack 136/14 ...

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden?' (Genesis 3:1)

Into the virgin garden slither the fangs that would poison perfection.

Snakes gained their deadly reputation in Eden, before recorded time.

Worldwide we all know snakebite can be fatal, especially to the unaware, or the unprepared. It is the innocent who do not see the poison; while reason suggests that only the naïve would deliberately entertain their own destruction. But this both Adam and Eve do.

God's direction to not eat from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, Eve already knew.

Satan has a voracious appetite for deceit; a now well documented track-record.

The fangs cast a long shadow across Eve's shoulders, they are so close. But, while ever she does not act, Eve remains safe.

The brightness of Eden is being clouded by the grey of indecision, but the poison is still in the fangs.

An informed yet innocent Eve lifts the apple, receiving blindly and disobediently the intoxicating poisonous drip. It is delivered by the unseen and efficient system of deceit. There is no clear lie from satan - merely a question. The poison of doubt and distrust sprinkles her soul.

To trust is to refuse doubt. I only have to question God's good intentions and instructions for me, so satan will then oblige and anoint my uncertainty.

He wants to keep me out of heaven, as much as he wants to return to heaven.

Satan's venom is the poison of distrust in my loving God, and in His truthful goodness to me. When I distrust God I have been bitten. When my thinking contradicts God's, I am turning my face to hell.

Satan seeks to live in the garden of my soul, that he may turn it into the desert that is his soul.

When all around you, your bank balance, your relationships and even your health holler at you to turn from God, to blame Him and distrust - turn to Him. Obediently stick with His guidance and satan loses while you win.

Faithfulness delivers defeat to satan and victory to you.
