The Bite of Satan ~ C

Soul Snack 138/14 ...

The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan. He was hurled to earth. (Revelation 12:9)

The dragon chose to war in heaven. This eternal loser lost, only to be expelled to earth.

Satan's removal from heaven was as forceful as it was final. A secure heaven could mean permanent sanctuary for evil; but God would never permit that. Then the angriest of all serpents had slipped into Eden.

... the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made (Genesis 3:1a)

Losers pursue revenge. Satan's DNA is loss, but he pretends to win. Motivated by injured pride,  homelessness and eternal hatred of God, he attacked in Eden. Unable to reach the Father, he pursued the Father's children.

Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring— those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus. (Revelation 12:17)

Satan approached with deadly stealth. He bit with a slick guile. The first two human lives were claimed. Perfection was poisoned. The lush garden soon became brown. Immortality had morphed into mortality.

Battle grounds by their very nature always become bleak places and Eden is lost.

A foothold in Eve's life for satan rapidly became a landing-field on Adam and then his family. Quickly the devil gained authority over all ground across all the earth.

The evidence of battles splash across TV screens and fill all media.

These days are saturated in the spilt blood of broken relationships, and fear-stained souls of men.  Self indulgence is now partnered with self loathing while pride, rebellion and un-forgiveness have become a cold chisel of each human.

Greed, hatred and ambition hammer each (now) mortal body. God's image (mankind) pursues Adam's Edenic example and flees their Father. These are clear symptons of the venom within the person; the puncture marks of death's warrant already served upon their life. But this need not remain so...

daily fangs are bared, but I can still choose not to be bitten.

‘Submit yourselves to God. Resist satan and he will flee' (James 4:7)

Resist these bites, by choosing God's ways amidst your distress, and satan will soon move to an easier target; become a hard target today. (Remember - evil and righteousness can never be bed partners.)

Satan is like a door-to-door salesman, slam the door in his face, refuse the invitation to sin, and he will lazily seek the easier prey.

Today's Soul Snippet:

No one can ever deceive God, anymore than He is capable of deceiving.
