The Dread of Loneliness#

Loneliness is a single rose with no vase to hug it.

Loneliness is outstretched arms that close around no one. ~ anon.

A soul is hollowed out while loneliness persists.

Anne Hathaway spoke about loneliness:

Loneliness is my least favorite thing about life. The thing that I'm most worried about is just being alone, without anybody to care for/or someone who will care for me.

Netball teams exclude you if you are not tall enough, riding stables if you are not short enough or light enough, universities if you are not clever enough, businesses if you are not trained enough, boyfriends if you are not pretty enough, footy teams if you are not tough enough - and we all know that list just goes on and on...

Christ died for all of us – the lost, the least, the least and the lonely.

When Jesus was asked to describe the width of His love, He stretched one hand to the right and the other to the left, then had them nailed for all to see - so none could doubt.

But isn't there a limit?  Surely there has to be an end to this love? You'd think so, wouldn't you?

Consider this small Biblical sample:

  • Abraham the coward never found it
  • David the adulterer never found it
  • Paul the murderer never found it, and
  • Peter the liar never found it.

Christ’s love, is undemanding, unconditional and unending.

I would like God to speak for Himself to Anne, should she wish to hear:

Your God, the Lord himself, will be WITH YOU. He will not leave you or abandon you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

No one stood by me the first time I defended myself; all deserted me... But the Lord stayed WITH ME and gave me strength. (2 Timothy 4:16,17)

You are precious to Me and because I love you and give you honor, do not be afraid, I am WITH YOU! (Isaiah 43:5a).

With man you may still be lonely – but with God you are never alone.
