The Fearful Way Of The Heart

It is difficult to ease our thoughts towards a Jesus who is neither gentle, meek nor mild.

Does Jesus really threaten?

Do the following two very brief passages contain some of Jesus' most intimidating teaching?

Jesus' words often own these two powers appropriately - to bless or to burden.

'Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

I have created a Jesus of my imagination, not His revelation. It is not by sincerity I reach heaven's gates but by accuracy. ~ anon

'But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.' (John 4:23-24)

It’s easy: You simply follow the trail of your time, your affection, your energy, your money, and your allegiance. At the end of that trail you’ll find a throne; and whatever, or whoever, is on that throne is what’s of highest value to you. On that throne is what you worship." ~ Louie Giglio

Jesus still stands knocking at many a door, patiently waiting (even among those who still 'believe') for the house door to open to Him.
