The Greatest Test of Holiness
23 November, 2019
The virtue of 'holiness' is an anathema to common man. They rush headlong into the search for acceptance, a thirst for approval. Each hungers to be not seen as 'different'.
Yet, living without holiness is a forever hollowness, a dissatisfaction without cure.
There is no eternal gain for those who speed to human acceptance, and unwisely choose to not separate themselves from this phoney world.
God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life. (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
Two spiritual giants reflected:
- We must be holy for this is the only sound evidence that we have a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. ~ J. C. Ryle
- The greatest test of whether the holiness we profess to seek or to attain is truth and life, will be whether it produces an increasing humility in us. In man, humility is the one thing needed to allow God's holiness to dwell in him and shine through him. The chief mark of counterfeit holiness is lack of humility. The holiest will be the humblest. ~ Andrew Murray
Without holiness no man shall see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)
A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Light houses blow no horns; they only shine. ~ D.L. Moody
