The Joy of Devotion

Waiting for those devoted is an uncelebrated divine favor.

It is unusual that these find honor among men, nor are they envied. In fact, men think such activity strange. Yet, the devoted are favored and separated from mankind.

There is a great unwitnessed tribe of the devoted. The authors of the Psalms are such tribesmen. They know:

  • Blessed are those You choose and bring near to live in Your courts! We are filled with the good things of Your house, of Your holy temple. (Psalm 65:4)
  • Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they are ever praising You. (Psalm 84:4)
  • Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your  presence, Lord. They rejoice in Your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. (Psalm 89:15-16)

He who seeks the Lord's presence is always well provided for.

As light is far superior than dark, the good Lord's presence is far superior than life itself.

The day comes when the devoted will have their breath withdrawn by He who first gave it, their mortal coil falls flat. But, they can never have His presence withdrawn, for then it has become their happiness forever.

My life is found when I have lost it with the Lord.
