The King's Highway

The Highway of Holiness is trod by the weak and walked by the feeble. The proud, the strong and the self-made know not of its existence.

The Highway of Holiness has bandits who hide behind its boulders. The rocks, the slopes and the rolling hills are all havens to these marauders. They always watch for travellers, scanning for the weak, the vulnerable, the sick and especially the lonely. Swiftly an attack is mounted; unseen and unheard arrows glance or even penetrate these flotsam and jetsam of earth. Yet each rises afresh and becomes a warrior. With the strongest of faith they steadfastly refuse to leave their Lord's Highway.

Wolves flare their gums and with eyes alight snarl through their teeth. Monstrous bears rise up to tower terrifying claws. Strong shouldered lions stand immovable. All these threats meet the poor and brokenhearted travellers; yet they continually refuse to leave the Lord's highway, the Highway called 'Holiness'.

Others travel the Highway in large crowds, great throngs. Often these journeymen break into song and lift their arms in praise to the King. This makes Him very happy. The King smiles but refuses distraction; He chooses to keep His eyes on the lost, the least, the last and the lonely who trek His road.

Many from all nations and all tongues are already travelling His highway, but countless more He still seeks.

“Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame... Then the master told his servant, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full." (Matthew 14:21-23)

Heaven still seeks those who humans flee, for God has always had a troubled heart for the troubled.
