To Play or to Fight?

I want to play, but I can't...

I can feel this but I can't see it...

There are times I am sure when my Lord slides His hand behind my shield and slips mine out of the way. He grasps the shield's grip and holds it secure for me. He understands my times of weakness far better than I do.

My Lord holds my shield so I don't have to, and He knows it must stay upright.

Indeed, our shield belongs to the Lord, our king to the Holy One of Israel. (Psalm 89:18)

Its weight cannot tire me, nor its presence distract me in the heat of battle. My Lord holds it securely, always between the fiery darts of the evil one and me.

God sees these pain-filled arrows (or worse) released, even when I have little idea of their flight and impending harm.

He does not weary, for His strength is as endless as His days. He will not let my shield slip aside.

Satan's shots of evil pierce far less, for the shield my Lord raises high is my shield of faith. He chooses to do this when the battle has made me too weary to hold it.

The shield of faith extinguishes the flaming arrows of the evil one - it must be so:

for life is a battleground and not a playground.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:16)

No battle is won while the soldier remains in the playground. I have to be in it, to win it.
