Tugging God's Heart

A maligned and barren Hannah long pleaded with the Lord for a child. She begged him in desperation of the spirit to birth within her the impossible.

Hannah's curved back heaved. She wept bitter, soul soaking tears that saturated God's lap and tore at His heart.

Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s house. In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord... As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk... So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the Lord for him.’ (1 Samuel 1:9-10 & 12-13, 20)

Hannah's hurts bellowed without voice to the Lord's throne, but He had no trouble in hearing.

God hears the cries thrown from the heart as easily as He sees the tears flooding down the cheeks.
