When the Soul Prays

As a man speaks from the overflow of his heart, so too he prays from the fullness of his soul.

"O Lord, let my heart be true, remove its vain deceits, let me see You and Your works more clearly and love You more dearly. Then my hands shall turn to Your works alone, those alone that you would have me do Father. Amen"

Many a work of the Lord has been hindered through lack of prayer, but how many more have been missed?

"O Lord, watch over all my ways - draw me ever deeper and deeper into Your fountain of righteousness. May righteousness become the only well I drink from, the only cupboard I open, and the only place I rest. In my heart may mercy triumph over judgement, peace and gentleness over strife, and my knowledge marry Your truth. Let me write no treaty with sin that my heart will only stay at Your promises. Amen" (A Prayer for Righteousness)

A Christian should move from righteousness as a concept of thinking, to righteousness as the first principle of doing.

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are attentive to their cry. (Psalm 34:15)
