• When There Is No Tomorrow

    29 August, 2019

Mankind only travels earth for a few short years before his silver cord is severed, the golden pitcher smashed and he takes that journey he hopes is to a calm sunset.

Life begins with a breath implanted, and ends with a breath snatched away.

It is the spirit in the man that is the breath of the Almighty. (Job 32:8)

Life is as fleeting as it is hollow. The work of yesterday has rusted or faded away, the work of today wearies, and the work of tomorrow is unsure. This has been so since Adam was expelled from Eden.

What does this short sojourn through joy and grief, reward and heartache mean?

In its transitory emptiness man is to:

    1. find the Lord while He can be found and secure his own tomorrow
    2. create the next generation and secure their tomorrow, and
    3. transmit righteousness, subdue wickedness and secure mankind's tomorrow.

Has not the Lord made man and wife one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring. (Malachi 2:15a)

All men should consider their end and not forget the true God. It is when the gates of opportunity slam shut and there is no return - mankind will realize his earthly options were ever only to secure his eternal home, and point others the same good way. His choices shall echo in eternity for ill or for good, but echo they shall.

It is tomorrow that is to feed a man's mind until he reaches eternity, for it is only then there is no tomorrow.

Remember Him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7)
