Why bother with the Bible?

The writings of A.W.Tozer are a gold mine that runs deep and rich.

Recently my blunt pick unearthed another long seam of wealth that to my wonder (and delight) I discovered was already flowing within my heart. He wrote of this ancient hymn below. Could this hymn also echo the eternal truths you too know and still seek to live?

How precious is the Book Divine,
By inspiration giv'n!
Bright as a lamp its doctrines shine
To guide our souls to heav'n,

It's light, descending from above
Our gloomy world to cheer,
Displays a Savior's boundless love
And brings His glories near,

It shows to us our wand'ring ways
And where his feet have trod,
And brings to view the matchless grace
Of a forgiving God,

O'er all the straight and narrow way
Its radiant beams are cast;
A light whose never weary ray
Grows brightest at the last,

It sweetly cheers our drooping hearts
In this dark vale of tears,
Life, light, and joy it still imparts
And quells our rising fears,

This lamp through all the tedious night
Of life shall guide our way
Till we behold the clearer light
Of an eternal day. (Author - John Fawcett 1782)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
