Wrap My Heart In Divine Love#

It is with an enduring lament I now consider the massive effort my good Lord has exerted to gain my attention. If I only I was as willing in my devotion decades ago as the Puritans were centuries ago!

There is such righteous Christian virtue and devotion in Puritan prayer.

The following is worthy to be prayed each day. It is written by a soul sold out to their Lord.

MY DEAR LORD,

I can but tell You I long for nothing but Yourself,

for nothing but Your holiness,

for nothing but union with Your will.

Is it not love that desires union with its object?

You have given me these desires,

My soul longs for communion with You,

for death to all indwelling corruption, especially spiritual pride.

Lord, give me more of Your likeness;

enlarge my soul to contain the fullness of holiness;

engage me to live for You.

Blessed Lord, my heart is wandering and lifeless,

and my heart mourns to ever think it could lose sight of You.

Wrap my heart in divine love,

keep me ever desiring You,

always humble and ready to do Your will,

more fixed on Yourself, than I am on myself. AMEN#

The Lord has so acted and rescued me that I shall give of myself to Him for all my mortal coil.

For You, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before You in the land of the living. (Psalm 116:8-9)

Today's Soul Snippet:

'I will call on my Lord as long as I live.' (Psalm 116:2c)
