Soul Snack 25/12 ... Of Hollowness and Harmony

I recently questioned a Personal Trainer, a young man ripped and fit as a fiddle.

I enquired of him how do you know when you are fit enough?

His silence betrayed his thought; he then replied you are never fit enough because there is always someone more fit!

On receiving his answer I instantly recalled J.D.Rockefeller's response to a similar question from a journalist many years ago now - how much money do you need, he was asked - just one dollar more came Rockefeller's reply.

Life is so fleeting but it demands with the energy of a vibrant garden to be maintained well. The foolish fail to even do the weeding while the greedy just keep planting for more growth.

There is a middle ground between the lazy fool and the giants of greed - it is named harmony.

Harmony is the boundary to strivings. Harmony explains when effort is too little and flees when work has become too much.

Better one handful with tranquillity
   than two handfuls with toil
and chasing after the wind. (Eccl 4:6)

To find harmony is to lose life's seasons of hollowness and to enjoy your days in the land of the living before the days of darkness come.

Today's Soul Snippet:

"Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint." (Prov 23:4)
