Soul Snack 194/11 ... Spiritual tread

Most tires have tread on them. The tread is manufactured in various patterns and depths according to the purpose of the tire. Largely the tread on the tyres of road-going vehicles is designed to dissipate water. When the road is wet this then enhances the traction of the wheels and safety for the users. Without tread, vehicles will tend to aquaplane on wet roads as the vehicle's wheels are prevented from contacting the road's surface by the film of water across it. (Remember your high school science; liquids do not compress.) This is dangerous. If tires had no tread the vehicle will slide in the wet and control can be easily lost.

Christians too need tread for their spirit and souls. Spiritual tread prevents the christian from sliding during life's storms into the path of oncoming crashes. Spiritual tread contributes to God's safety strategies for His loved ones - YOU for instance.

When my life is merely a skating rink He courteously reminds again of His unchangeable promises. God's promises are His tread for me.

When life's temptations invite a spiritual downward slide or life's storms flood my paths it is upon His promises that I still tread firm.

God's promises give traction to my feet today so that I won't crash into tomorrow.

The promises of his God are in his heart; his feet do not slip. (Ps 37:31 - GT edition)
