    Soul Snack 247/13 ... For 2014

There is one simple thought, one necessary action, one resolution to hold...

Of course this resolution is not important if you are confident the New Year ushers in peace and prosperity alone. If this is true please read no further.

But for those who enjoy a humble heart, may know a frail body or fear an empty purse ~

Make the Lord your Stronghold and Hope Alone in the Name of the Lord, for His Name is Good. (see Ps 52)

The Lord is my stronghold when He is my refuge and my confidence in a good tomorrow.

The Lord is my stronghold when I no longer wrestle Him as Jacob did, and I have dropped all masks of pretence.

The Lord is my stronghold when I no longer doubt in the dark what He has shown me in the light.

Soul Snack 246/13 ... Those yet to come

As age marches on and the years transgress my mortal frame, more frequently the lights of this world are dimmed.

Reading through the matte genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1 is not the usual delight of devotion, yet as I pondered and prayed over it, the list brightened.

This catalogue shows the human blood line of Jesus. A planned and deliberate line stained by sin and evil, as well as lifted by righteousness and faith.

This caused me to ponder further on not only my blood lines, but those who would come after me - those born of my genes but not of my knowledge.

Consequently the present now commands less devotion and my thoughts turn to legacies and inheritances -  what I will leave behind. Distractions about the future, about those coming after me become more frequent. This assails my mortality. I now lay hold of more deeply the parallels Jesus makes through lilies of the fields and the birds of the air to a fleeting life.

With encroaching years, today is now far less valuable than securing tomorrow well.

All my grand-children are divinely planned and great-grandchildren are generationally locked-in ALREADY until Jesus returns. What I do today is no longer just for me it is for tomorrow, for those not known and those never seen.

I am the sum total of my forebears, but my after-bears will still be a genetically diluted sum total of me.

I am not just here for me, for my work on earth, or even the service of the Lord; I am also here for all those yet to come, and His service through them..

Seek Jesus' kingdom, His heart and His hands today, so that those who follow you will enjoy Him tomorrow.

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you (Mt 6:33)

Soul Snack 244/13 ... Cradle to Cross

There is an infant peeking through the windows in the suburbs.

There is a babe crying on the other side of the wall in homes worldwide.

A child still lies unattended by those who need Him most.

This world is perfectly adept at ignoring both the infant and adult Jesus.

Christmas is merely further evidence of a babe forgotten who did not return the favor.

ENJOY this brief Biblical journey to Christmas.

Soul Snack 242/13 ... Owning the Universe

If you were the Creator of the Universe, how would you run things? Would you lead with an iron fist or the roar of a lion? You could if you wished – it’s your universe!

How would you lead when your first loved rebelled? It must have been tempting to consume them with fire, or create the greener pastures?

Why would you ever visit? And if you did visit, surely you would beam down as a wealthy King – not as a baby?

Jesus was born as a baby in a stable. He was the son of a carpenter and not the son of an ancient industry captain.

God chose the lamb and not the lion. God chose the stable and not the Sheraton. God chose the rejected and not the royal.

Never be surprised that God too chose you, for Christmas is God exercising His choice as the owner of the universe.**

Soul Snack 241/13 ... Recovering Christ

Christ has never been lost, but He is roundly ignored.

Jesus' absence from His birthday celebrations is only paralleled by His absence from the lives He would die for.

In the measure of a cosmic injustice, Jesus always wins.

Rejected at His birth, killed on His earth and removed from His birthday celebrations, the injustice is never corrected and annually multiplied.

Few hearts cherish Jesus, and fewer even remember Him on the day He jetted from paradise to travel among men. He would exchange a throne for a tree, and leave the cradle for the cross.

Christ is now alive and well in heaven again, yet He is slain upon earth. The western world enjoys His celebrations but not Him.

Refuse to leave Christ alone this Christmas, for He still is the waif in the barn, and the focus of murder.

Christ has not rejected you - reciprocate this Christmas (and then forever).

    Soul Snack 240/13 ... A WHITE COMPASS

My unsneaking suspicion confirms that most of this planet's dwellers fail to realise that Christmas is THE compass to the world.

Christmas points to an annual season of joy, peace and goodwill even if this is fleeting.

Christmas directs the world to slow, even stop and pursue faith, hope and love for a moment.

Christmas guides the world to its only savior even though He is ignored.

Christmas offers far more than well adorned, but very transitory gifts to all those who would willingly receive.

ENJOY these brief video thoughts about a white compass.
