SOUL SNACK 57 ... Minding my Mind

"The king said to me, 'what is it you want?' Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king." Neh. 2:4-5a

That 'arrow prayer' is released by Nehemiah. An instant submission flies to The Almighty. The imperative seems impossible, time is non-existent, but prayer must precede!

Nehemiah has access to the royal courts. (circa 450 bc Persia). He was cupbearer to the king. An unfortunate job that brought high privilege and even higher danger. Nehemiah was also in significant soul travail. His brothers had returned to a destroyed Jerusalem. They neither lived in dignity nor in safety. Nehemiah had set his mind to assist.

Prior to approaching the king (Artaxerxes) he had devoted some days to prayer and fasting. In faith he now approaches the king, this king who is an alien. This king who still held Hebrews as servants and slaves. Yes, the king even with the power of death.

The pressing matter to Nehemiah's mind was his brother's welfare. Yet 1ST and highest on Nehemiah's mind was prayer. Nehemiah had 'minded' his mind well.

Each day delivers much to occupy my mind. My mind is 'minded' best when 1st of all I have a mind to pray. God's great desire is to hear so much more from me. COPYRIGHT 06
