SOUL SNACK 60 ... The 'must do' meeting!

"Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night..."Jn 3:1-2a

Stealth was the imperative.Darkness delivered him valuable protection.Maybe he's even barefoot to muffle the footsteps. His heart pounds! His pulse races! His brow damp on this cool evening. Discovery would guarantee instant and decisive disapproval. He continues to pursue his goal, for this opportunity is surely most fleeting.

How would he be greeted? Did only rejection await ? Flashing thru his enquiring mind is an amalgam of emotion.Simultaneously a most vigorous doubt, fear and curiosity rise within him. But, the latter prevails.

As a public figure he would be open to shame. Ridicule and humiliation can be unbearable. As a man the insults would travel very deeply. But, as a seeker, he just had to know!

This opportunity was too precious. It was priceless! No risk seemed too great. Hindrance to personal ambition, the loss of long term colleagues or even potential assault would not prevent him from meeting this miracle worker.

The personal battle to reach Jesus can be very great. Yet, at the core of his being he knew; the personal loss to not meet Him is far greater. COPYRIGHT 06
