SOUL SNACK 9 ... Eternal Pleasure

‘Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead…how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him ' Lk 11:11-13

 

For my ninth Christmas I received an Airfix kit. It was a Polaris nuclear submarine. I still recall my joy at receiving this gift. When assembled it would even fire ‘missiles'.

Parents intentionally give good to their children. Children have the inherent right to only receive good from their parents. So often the shape of our life comes through that which we have received from our parents.

Very clearly, God intends to give good to His children. His gift giving may come through the changes and chances of life.

He too is the parent who brings healthy shape to our life. He will act (usually with our consent) to construct our life so that success with Him is possible. For, this Father wants to bring to our lives the very gifts that will please us for eternity.

He even gives us His very own spirit, the Holy Spirit that we may always enjoy life to the full. Just ask Him! COPYRIGHT 05
