Soul Snack 171/11 ... The Prince of Paradise - B

Information is a necessary tool, but knowledge is a powerful persuader.

Canopied under perfect mist-laden skies, Adam walked erect with head held high, feet flat and lived with Love. In fact Adam lived a still perfect love. He had just been made in the image of He who is love.

There is only one instruction in Eden, but there are two trees. This scene was so resplendent in its pure simplicity. Adam is given choice. (Surely that too was part of being in God's image.) Adam would rule Eden as he chose.

Choice would always be part of Eden. God constructs no puppets. There can be no loving relationship where there is no choice in its pursuit.

The joy of Eden was still unspeakable, the sin of Eden still undoable - surely?

Sharing from his caring wife, Adam bites into the knowledge of good and evil, he savours its new sweetness, blissfully unaware to its impending bitterness. With a tantalising speed the desirable sweetness is lost, replaced by an enduring bitterness. Heaven had been lost - hell had been gained. Pandora's box was now open.

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Gen 3:6

There are still two trees to eat from to this very day, two trees to learn from ~ BUT only one will be in heaven, only one can give life - eat to live!
