Soul Snack 56/13 ... Of Rags & Riches

They shouted in unison while Heaven cried in silence, yet Jesus still blessed from brokenness!

But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. (Lk 23:23)

How quickly the Place of the Skull had become Jesus' confirmed destination; untrammelled evil was so obviously successful.

An unconscionable Pilate had acquiesced (v24). Herod the tetrarch sought a sideshow (v8), while the Jews chose murder for their long anticipated Messiah (v25).

The problems of that first Easter still remain; for every Easter the King stands before the world and every Easter He is still treated as a criminal and slain in hearts afresh.

The sight of Easter is to reveal the burdens of sin,

the light of Easter is to reveal the blindness of the soul and

the might of Easter is  to reveal the power of resurrection.

Yet somehow still the cruel eyes of the crowd are clouded to the caring eyes from the Cross.

How hard is it to see greatness and goodness when it is covered in rejection and rags?

Today's Soul Snippet:

Praise of Jesus is outward evidence of an inward relationship.
