Soul Snack 82/11 ... Reuben

This dreamer was disdained; in fact Joseph was hated by his brothers.

Our Lord is so correct when He says:

... a prophet is without honor in his own country. (Jn 4:44)

Nine murderous brothers conspired to kill Joseph. With a deception and ruthlessness that would make an ancient mafia proud, they plotted. Yet as they sought to take Joseph's life, there was just one voice of reason -- Reuben's voice saved Joseph's life. (See Genesis 37 for this full story.)

When another forms a plan to kill you, when you have been despised and rejected, when you are mis-understood and dropped in a hole by even your brothers, God still had a plan first to rescue you.

When others have planned your humiliation, God has planned your elevation. He always has a rescue mission for those who are the least in the eyes of those around them.

Look for your Reuben, the voice of reason among those unreasonable around you. They are His protection for you.

No malevolence of man can ever outsmart the benevolence of God.
