Soul Snack 130/11 ... The Highway of the Heart

Whether you live in Melbourne, Manhattan or even Mongolia highways will be part of your life. They may be complete and congested or broken and barren, but they will be there and definitely needed.

Highways are a necessary means to navigate life. People usually choose to travel life starting on the Highway of the Heart -- they simply travel by feelings.

The Bible is completely unreserved about the nature of the human heart -- it is only correctly known by God.

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?  I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve. (Jer 17:9-10)

In fact our good Lord is so conscious of our irredeemably polluted heart that His intention is to replace it and not to simply repair it.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ez 36:26)

There is a highway to heaven but it does not intersect with the highway of the unredeemed heart.

And a highway will be there;
       it will be called the Way of Holiness.
       The unclean will not journey on it;
       it will be for those who walk in that Way;
       wicked fools will not go about on it. (Is 35:8)

I also like to call the highway to heaven -- the road of righteousness, it is not traversed by feelings but by faith.

For we live by faith, not by sight. (2 Cor 5:7)
