Soul Snack 9/42 ... Holy Horror

An arresting silence held this faithful family in its spell. With fear in their eyes and bodies now stiff, no one knew where to look. A happy well-intentioned get together had quickly descended to a horrified one.

Patriarchal guidance was so sadly and noticeably absent from this gathering.

With slow, calculated movements some stood. They rotated both fearfully and inquisitively to observe. Yet, there was nothing to see or hear, for that is the nature of silence. Their altitude simply comfirmed that those standing also provided leadership. But their lips were still. The lack of verbal report itself haunted.

The sense of dis-ease was strong, nearly overpowering. Bowels fluttered and tears welled. Still not a sound was uttered. The silence had captured their tongues. Discomfort and fear had simply multiplied with little restraint.

None of the five senses could give an explanation. Their sixth sense shuddered. They knew they were in the presence of evil.

The happiness of Halloween engaged by this Christian family with the naive innocence of spells, five sided stars and Ouija boards had become horror. There was no harmlessness in this -- only foolish and disobedient naivety at best.

... or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD ... You must be blameless before the LORD your God. (Deut 18:11-13)
