Soul Snack 49/12 ... Barely a Believer.

Capture this strange unfolding scene if you will.

It is early morning. There is a distinct chill in the air. Gethsemane is now as beautiful as it would very soon be tragic.

The Creator of lives is about to be given to those who would claim His life.

A treacherous Judas has guaranteed a captured messiah.

Jesus is kissed. The messiah is arrested. A melee ensues.

Captivated by this drama before him is a near naked young man.

The Gospel of Mark describes the nameless person as a follower of Jesus. He only wore a linen garment. (That is ok because Jesus loves us all simply as we are.)

Yet as this brutal dawn scene unfolds the scantily clad young man is too seized. However unlike the submissive Jesus he flees.

"A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked, leaving his garment behind." (Mk 14:51-52)

In his sudden flight his cloth falls, naked he runs from the soldiers and from Jesus.

To flee Jesus is to lose everything.

The miracle of Easter is that a human can now know God.
