Soul Snack 125/11 ... Heaven's Keyways

Keyways are usually a groove in a shaft or a slot in a lock; they are mechanisms designed to contain two parts together. They are a locking mechanism that secures both parts safely so that the entire machine can operate well.

God too has constructed keyways for a Christian's life, they are His promises that lock Christians into Him.

When there is nothing else holding life together they become the believer's only constant. They are guaranteed by the giver and secured by He who can no more lie than break a promise. They are written in heaven for the benefit of earth.

In God's keyways His faithfulness is found and hope is received. They are the light for the night and the compass for the day.

God's promises are His precious deposits for the servant's well-being. They are His single-minded words to affirm, uplift and strengthen a believer when all that surrounds the believer seeks to diffuse and destroy their life. These are the keyways of heaven that lock the believer into safety and continual good operating. They prevent fleeing, explosion and loss.

God's promises keep the feet moving when life screams - stop!

God's promises revive the heart when it has died.

God's promises refresh the spirit when it has been scoured.

God's promises enable a lifeless present by showing a superior future.

Pursue God's promises, seek out your favorite one, for He spoke this from heaven for you.

Here is one of my favourite promises that locks me into God:

Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Is 46:4)

(PS - I know this to be true - I already have the grey hair.)
