Soul Snack 95/11 ... Reversing life

In those days, at that time, declares the LORD, the people of Israel and the people of Judah together will go in tears to seek the LORD their God. They will ask the way to Zion and turn their faces towards it. They will come and bind themselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten. (Jer 50:4-5)

Where does the distress of your days take you?

What do you bind yourself to in the times of trouble?

Oh to be bound to the Lord and not to me. Oh that the wonders of this world, the enticements of the eyes and the hopes of the heart would no longer bind me.

It is in suffering, a heart is released from such bondage.

It is in the tears of torment promises, never to be broken can be made.

It is in the sadness of the soul the salve of the saviour is felt.

It is in the sickness of the spirit, the joy of the Lord is gained.

It is in the darkness of night, the love of Heaven is poured.

Where there is no earthly home a heavenly one is erected.

Where there is no earthly family a divine one adopts.

There is no damaging bondage for those who choose the Lord as their refuge.

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him (Ps 34:8)
