SOUL SNACK 112/11 ... The Bite of Satan - 3

The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan. He was hurled to earth. (Rev 12:9)

His removal was as abrupt as it was final. Extensive force was used. A safe heaven would mean permanent sanctuary for evil; but God would never permit that. Now this most angry of all serpents had entered Eden.

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made ... (Gen 3:1a)

Losers pursue revenge. Satan is the eternal loser. Motivated by injured pride and eternal hatred, he attacked in Eden. Unable to reach the father, he pursued His children.

Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring— those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus. (Rev 12:17)

He attacked with deadly stealth. He bit with a slick guile. The bite is an exceptionally efficient delivery system of poison. Venom is quickly in the veins. The first two lives were claimed. Perfection was poisoned. The lush garden was soon brown.

Battle grounds have always become bleak places. Yet this was no mere enemy. His stealth was cunning and in a believable disguise he deceived. He had slipped the knife of mortality across those who were to be immortal.

A foothold for satan rapidly became a landing-field as he gained ground.

The evidence of the battle is clear to this day in broken relationships, shame and fear. There is self indulgence and self loathing. There is pride, rebellion and un-forgiveness. There is greed, hatred and ambition. People even continue to hide from God. Each of these is venom to the soul. Each are fang marks of death's warrant.

Daily I'm attacked, but I don't have to be bitten. God still wins! Resist these bites and satan will soon move to an easier target; become a hard target today.

‘Submit yourselves to God. Resist satan and he will flee' James 4:7

Today's Soul Snippet:

No one can ever deceive God, anymore than He is capable of deceiving.
