Soul Snack 124 ... My Heart's Throne

'When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in dust.' JONAH 3:7

Jonah is conducting THE most successful mission in contemporary Ancient Near Eastern history. This reluctant Billy Graham is enjoying unheard of success. In Jonah 3 the God of heaven is on the throne in Jonah's life.

The King of Nineveh, truly knew who REALLY rules. He leaves his throne that he may make another his king. In fact, this king would leave no doubt as to his abdication. Not only does he remove himself from the position of rule (his throne), he also removes the 'trappings' of rule (his royal robes).

Leaving his throne also lead many others to correct rule and Godly submission. (Jonah 3:6-10) (When I yield my self-rule it is easy to guide others in this too.)

In every persons' heart there is a most resilient throne. Each individual is on his throne until he invites Jesus to be on it.

If we may remain king in our life, we hinder His kingdom and lose it forever.

'Kingship' is indicated by our throne and its trappings.

Contentment with earthly goods is the mark of true sight.

Contentment with our spiritual good, a mark of true blindness.

God will speak to us and through us when we too abdicate the throne in our hearts.

His rule is far superior in my heart than mine. His rule can't hurt me. His rule will only help.
