Soul Snack 59/11 ... Restraining Good Friday?

The morning had dawned upon God's Son as one of malevolent indulgence. Self will and self protection had preceded justice.

Neither man nor God would yield on this Passover Friday. Neither would withhold their intention from the world.

Violent red stained streets had screamed for innocent blood.

A spineless and self-serving leadership acted without goodwill, only self-interest.

A throng totally absent of wisdom and devoid of moral fibre defied justice relentlessly throughout this death of God.

No restraint, no self audit or no self correction had appeared from them at this darkest hour.

Equally without self restraint, God withheld not even His only Son. The Father gave His all from His total poverty -- He only had one son to give, there were no cosmic twins with a 'spare' if the first one should die.

Neither did this Son on the cross restrain Himself from suffering. He requested no heavenly army, nor delivered any eternal curse. He understood entirely! No torment would He keep Himself from.

To the Jews He had yielded. There was no personal consideration, as this nail suspended saviour cried:

"Father forgive them for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34)

Ignorance was the domain of these God-resisting murderers, knowledge and grace the domain of this God-submissive saviour.

Hmm - I wonder if EASTER is really about constraining me so I can contain Him????

Today's Soul Snippet:

"That which is to give light must first endure burning." anon
