Soul Snack 8/49... Reward or Retaliate?

Near tirelessly sharks prowl the depths and the shallows.

Sharksin a feeding frenzy exemplify savagery. Almost instantly, violentscenes from 'Jaws' can capture the mind as the way of savagery.

Unfortunately, savagery occurs across all of God's creative order. People are no more immune than creatures.

" It may be that the LORD will see my distress and repay me with good for the cursing I am receiving today." 2 Sam 16:12

Both smooth and jagged stones landed painfully across the king's torso. Other stones kicked up Middle Eastern desert dust across his bare and vulnerable shins. He winces constantly, as his walk quickly becomes a run.

His body now attacked without mercy, his mind attacked without grace. The cursing and the stones deliver so much wounding to both the inner and the outer man. Not even King David is isolated from another's savagery. No one is!

King David had been approaching Bahurim (v5). He comes under fire, both his body and his spirit pelted.

King David's confidence is spiritually healthy. His response is to see that which God sees. His response is to know that which God knows. He does not look to retaliate. He looks for reward. Within, he holds hope for himself, not hurt for another

David knows that even when others refuse to bring him goodwill, God won't. He seeks reward not retaliation.

My father in heaven,

I praise you that you show me how to lead life well. I thankyou that you free me from my wilful ways. Please show me this day the way that is yours, for I desire your rewards alone. AMEN.
