Surrounded by Songs of Deliverance

Mindful of his utter dependence upon the good Lord, King David gazes with faith illumined confidence to his innermost place, he records three truths:

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7)

The Lord is this king's refuge. Not his strong intellect. Not His great wealth. Not his fierce fighting men. Not the might of his horses. Not the number of his chariots. His protection and rescue from trouble is with his hiding in the Lord.

Those who hide in the Lord retreat to Him, drawing into His presence and protection. They do not abandon Him or His righteous ways - no matter what ruin may stare them down, or the weight of fears they bear. In fact they cast their cares upon Him.

King David maybe confronted by giants, enemies, fears or dis-ease (possibly much more). Yet, he is confident of the Lord's presence, surrounded by hope, and so sure of rescue. David enjoys God's regular reminders for:

this is to be surrounded with songs of deliverance, covered in a cocoon of  Divine promises.

A man can stand a lot longer, a lot stronger before his enemies when he knows there is an end in sight. He is far less vulnerable to defeat.

Songs have that pleasing or tiresome habit of rattling through the mind, long after they have been heard or sung. It is the persistence music of deliverance, not hopelessness that wraps around Israel's third king through his battles. He rests assured the seasons of peace return.

Scour the Word, meditate upon all its ways accepting its wisdom, its past rescues, permanent forgiveness, and present blessings. As you ponder God's previous rescues through turbulent times the songs of deliverance will rise afresh to surround you too this day.

NOTE TO SELF: it is not just I who the good Lord has already intervened for, countless brothers and sisters can also speak of God's faithfulness; listen to their songs (testimonies) of deliverance for these too will carry my heart.

ENJOY too ~ Imprisoned by Hope
