The 5 PILLARS of DEVOTION

Soul Snack 37/14 ~ An Introduction ...

Love by its nature seeks union. ~ Brennan Manning

It was never God's intention for man to walk alone, or worse still away from Him. When man is absent from God, good guidance evades, and man makes himself unknowingly vulnerable.

Adam was no surprize to God, no unplanned birth or unwanted pregnancy. The God of Heaven always desired friendship from the men of earth. This has not changed, for God does not change.

Devotion is giving good time to God. It is not cheap time, titbits of time, or simply a leftover  chronological morsel, for then it is not devotion but merely convenience.

There are 5 Pillars of Christian Devotion:

  • Solitude
  • Silence
  • Secrecy
  • Stillness and
  • Separation.

Before satan ruled the earth he conspired to separate man from God; the son from his Father.(Satan does this today too.) If devotion is light or even missing, see this too as satan's handiwork to injure both you and the Father.

Times of devotion are the erection of, and hiding within spiritual strongholds. Satan seeks to have you, but he MUST fail when you run into the Father's arms, sit on His lap, dwell in His shadow, or merely cast your eyes to the hills.  An earnest spirit for the Lord discovers this IS the place of safety.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)

To be in God's presence is rest, but we all are kept so busy that resting with God is rarely indulged. Through devotions you win the fight for your soul.

Next time satan reminds you of your busy-ness, sit down, pick up the Bible and remind him of your love for the Lord. Devotion is two sitting together as one.

Remember - love by its nature seeks union.
