Axing Adam
Soul Snack 123/14 ... Did Adam listen?
God planted two trees at Eden's center prior to placing Adam amongst them.
Imagine the scene as Adam stood in the most pleasing of all classrooms; it was laced with every shade of green and warmed to a perfect temperature. No chill or draft there. The chatter and flutter of birds did not distract from hearing the Lord. He carefully instructed Adam to not eat fruit from one tree; the tree that carried death and not healing upon its leaves.
And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.’ (Genesis 2:16-17)
Adam didn't listen.
The time is now upon each disciple of Jesus (those who believe in the resurrection of the dead and the forgiveness of sin) within the Body of Christ to bend the knee.
This is a call for repentance; the humble acknowledgement of their thirst for knowledge, and almost complete dependence upon the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. This is an appeal to no longer repeat Adam's sin.
Daily the Tree of Knowledge fills the bowls of learning, while devotion to the Tree of Life, (The Word of Life - the Way, the Truth and the Life) remain strangely absent.
To the contemporary Pharisees, Sadducees and the crowds of Christian education consumers, now is the time to turn from feasting at the Tree of Knowledge. Now is the time to make the Lord's path straight again.
The Tree of Knowledge has made crooked paths, raised mountains (academic qualifications) and carved valleys (failure at academia) for God's people and the Lord's ways. The time is now to reverse this, raze the mountains and level the paths for the Lord with repentance.
It is time to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Do not say "I have study, a degree, or even a doctorate as my father" for God can/has/does/ and will raise up the most devoted and capable of servants without these.
The ax is already at the foot of the Tree of Knowledge. It is to be cut down and cast into the fire.
Choose this day which fruit you will eat, which tree's shade you will sit under and what bough you will lean against, for the fire to consume the Tree of Knowledge is unquenchable.
Do not be leaning against the hefty trunk of the Tree of Knowledge, enjoying its support, or cooling in its shade when the mighty day of the Lord arrives.
This call is to no longer pursue Adam; the correct response is to only eat from the Tree of Life.
He who has an ear let him hear.
